Dark Side Tour: Roger Waters 11.5.2008 Landgraaf, Megaland
Von Bas Swanenberg
Because of the holiday and Mother’s Day here in Holland, I left for Landgraaf at five in the afternoon. Normally more than enough time to get there in time for the concert. But after getting to Heerlen very smooth the main road to Megaland was a chaos. So I was to late at the concert and had to hear the first two songs from the outside. But found a good spot to enjoy one of the Floyd classics Set the Controls. Roger looked a bit rough as he hasn’t shaved since the start of the tour.
The setlist didn’t chance a cord as we all know I found it a bit silly that he still introduces Leaving Beirut as a new song. Well relatively new song this time Chester Kamen did the lead guitar part instead of Andy Fairweather-Low. And after that one of the highlights Sheep this time with a different version of the pig and was released after the song was over. And went up really high probably going to end up somewhere in Germany.
During the break I went more forward and got a good place more in front of the stage. There I watched the rest of the show witch was pretty much the same as the sold out Gelredome concert in Arnhem. During the end of Dark Side of the Moon the still have the pyramid which I think was a good idea on paper but visually during the concert is missing the power as you can hardly see the laser beams.
Then before the band introduction Roger thanked the Dutch audience how always had be very good and he still has good memories on the shows in the Paradiso. In the late sixties after that the Wall suite I liked the footage of the old Berlin wall and the new walls still being build in the world.
This being my sixth Roger Waters Dark Side of the Moon show I must say the ones in The Ahoy and Locarno I liked the most also because the were small scale shows and I was right upfront this show I liked better as the Gelredome from last year it had a better atmosphere and I’m glad that I went to see this show one last time. Roger promised that this is the last time he plays this same setlist I hope he will be around sometime soon on tour with his new album and playing some different Songs from his large enough back catalogue.

24.000 spectators. Again the Pig was loose. The weather was perfect. Waters in great shape. In some parts he changed the video parts what made that it was a bit different than last two years. After the break “The Dark Side of the Moon”, you could feel that the band loved to play it.
