David Gilmour besuchte am 22. Mai 1987 das Genesis-Konzert in Los Angeles

1987 kehrten Pink Floyd mit dem Album A Momentary Lapse of Reason samt dazugehöriger bombastischen Tournee zurück. Nick Mason und David Gilmour verbrachten im Frühjahr 1987 viel Zeit in Los Angeles, um ungestört von Roger Waters Rechtsanwälten an der Fertigstellung des neuen Albums arbeiten zu können.

Gilmour nutzte den L.A. Aufenthalt für den Besuch des Genesis-Konzerts am 22. Mai im Dodger Stadium. Ein Floyd-Fan schreckte überrascht auf, als er neben ihm beim Pinkeln stand.

DARKMAGE: I never got to see the classic Floydlineup,p as I was only 9 in 1975, so I had to wait until the 1987 tour for A Momentary Lapse of Reason, which was at the LA Mausoleum, erm, Colosseum. I would have much rather seen Pink Floyd at the Sports Arena!

Never met any of the band, sadly. Your encounter at the hotel sounds so cool. I did take a leak next to Dave Gilmour once. At the 1987 Genesis concert at Dodger Stadium, a musician friend who was a friend of the band gave me a backstage pass for the show. Cut to needing to take a drain halfway through, and I look around me as I’m doing my business and realize it’s Dave Gilmour taking a leak next to me at the wall stalls hahaha.

I couldn’t bring myself to say anything while we both had our dongs in our hands, and as he wrapped up quicker than yours truly, I never got to say hi.

Holy cow, Geschichten gibt es. Aber das hätte im Ronnie Scotts vor ein paar Wochen auch passieren können. Die Mitglieder von Genesis und Pink Floyd kennen sich ohnehin gut. Mason ist mit Peter Gabriel befreundet und beide Floyds mit Mike Rutherford.
