Simple Minds Sänger Jim Kerr über seine Pink Floyd Lieblingssongs

Jim Kerr,  der Sänger und Frontmann der Simple Minds, schrieb vor ein paar Tagen auf deren Facebookseite über Pink Floyd. Die Simple Minds kamen oft an der Battersea Powerstation vorbei und dabei musste Kerr an die Floyd’s denken! Nur ein paar Bands haben es seiner Meinung nach geschafft, solch einen langen Schatten zu werfen! Außerdem freut er sich sehr auf die Pink Floyd Ausstellung im nächsten Jahr!

Jim Kerr: Often think about Pink Floyd as we make our way to and from the Battersea studio that we have used on and off over the last 7 years. The main reason being the sight of the iconic, now long decommissioned Battersea Power Station on the south bank of the river Thames, made even more famous as a result of featuring on the sleeve design of Floyd’s “Animals” album. The building still has an amazing presence, casting shadow over the surrounding neighbourhood, likewise Floyd’s inspirational music also casts a very long shadow. Few have managed to be that good!

For that reason, as with the Bowie and the recent Stones exhibitions, I really look forward to seeing this: Pink Floyd V&A Exhibition.

Favourite Floyd songs? ‘Arnold Layne’ and ‘See Emily Play” – as I particularly liked – early Syd Barrett’s version. I also like ‘One Of These Days’ immensely.
