Roger Waters Song Sparrows Will Sing erscheint auf Marianne Faithfull Album
Update: Etwas irreführend ist die Meldung, „Neuer Song, den Roger Waters für Marianne Faithfull schrieb“, denn wie mich Oliver aufmerksam machte, hat Waters diesen Song zumindest bei einem Soundcheck 2007 selbst gespielt. Ich habe im Pulse & Spirit Nachrichtenarchiv nachgesehen, dort lauern noch viele alte Berichte, und tatsächlich einen Eintrag darüber gefunden:

- Statistik: 21.800 Besucher, ausverkauft
- Soundcheck: Waters spielte einen neuen Song!! Er klingt laut Simon Wimpenny, wie etwas zwischen Hey You und Paranoid Eyes!!
Damals wusste niemand genaueres über diesen Song, also auch keinen Titel. Heute können wir sagen, dass es sich um “Sparrows Will Sing” handelte, der jetzt auf Faithfull´s Album veröffentlicht wird.
Roger Waters Song auf dem neuen Marianne Faithfull Album
Vor ein paar Wochen berichteten wir darüber, dass Roger Waters für Marianne Faithfull 20. Album “Give My Love To London” einen geschrieben hat. Der Song hat eine unglaubliche Magie. Eigentlich nur ein Bluesschema, typische Roger Waters Songtechnik der letzten 20 Jahre, Marianne Faithfuls morbide und ausdrucksstarke Stimme – die Kombination macht’s.
Gefällt mir auch, obwohl der Song für Waters’sche Verhältnisse etwas unspektakulär endet, finde ich.
RW spielte ihn übrigens schon bei Soundchecks der DSOTM-Tour.

Ich kann einfach nicht auf das Cover schauen, ohne einen Hustenanfall zu bekommen. Zum Glück gefällt mir der Song überhaupt nicht 🙂
