Sicher habt ihr den einen oder anderen Podcast von Guy Pratt und Gary Kemp gehört, wenn nicht, dann macht das. Sehr unterhaltsam den beiden und ihren Gästen, die meist berühmte Musikerkollegen sind, zuzuhören. Nick Mason war zu Beginn der Serie zu Gast und ob David Gilmour, mit dem Pratt in engen Kontakt steht, sich eines Tages dafür zur Verfügung stellt, ist nicht auszuschließen.

Vor zwei Wochen veröffentlichten Pratt und Kemp ein Gespräch, das sie mit BBC-Radio und TV-Moderator Legende Bob Harris führten. Von 1972 bis 1979 gestaltete er die Musiksendung The Old Grey Whistle Test. Damals, lange bevor MTV geboren war, existierten nahezu keine Musikvideos, also stellte man eigenen Filme für die Sendung her.

Harris erinnert sich an einen Film eines Studenten zur Musik von One Of These Days.

Bob Harris: … and of course Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon and the Journey to Dark Side of the Moon and One Of These Days.

Guy Pratt: Didn’t you use the Ian Emes Film with the Dancers? We used that on the last David Gilmour Tour.

Bob Harris: We got this Film in from a Student from University in Birmingham who become a big Whistle Test Fan. He was working on this little piece of animation. It was only about five or six minutes for One Of These days, which he sent to us, and we loved it. It was so interesting, colourful and the perspectives … it was brilliant. So, we got in touch with him, literally Mike phoned him up and asked, “Can we use that on the Show?“. He was over the moon about that.

So, we put it on the show and Rick, Rick Wright was watching that night and Rick phoned us the following day and said, “Who is this, who has done this? We love it.” So, we introduced Ian (Emes) to the Band, and then of course he created the visual on the huge circular screen behind the band that represented the journey to the Dark Side Of The Moon.

We were all of us at the Rainbow Theatre that night, where the band put their instruments down, walked off from stage and left the Journey showing. Ian, Mike, me we were there on the very first night when the performed Dark Side Of The Moon.  It was sensational, it really was. I talked to Ian not a long time ago, and he was saying the sense of pride and excitement that he felt that night, it’s indescribable.
