Lili Haydn über Roger Waters

Lily Haydn wird in Roger Waters Band Violine spielen, wenn der ehemalige Pink Floyd-Star das Coachella Festival abschließt. Die Tochter der verstorbenen Komikerin Lotus Weinstock, die in dem 1983er Film “Monty, der Millionenerbe” die Filmtochter von Rodney Dangerfield gespielt hatte, wird sich am Sonntagabend (27. April 2008) für Waters’ “Dark Side Of The Moon”-Auftritt bei dem Ereignis in Kalifornien zu dem Rocker auf die Bühne gesellen. Haydn, die als Teenager Solistin im Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra war, hatte auch mit Robert Plant und Jimmy Page den Song “Kashmir” für das Album “No Quarter” der beiden aufgenommen.

In einem Interview für das Lumino Magazine verrät sie ein paar Details wie es dazu kam. Waters rief sie kurzerhand an. Ihr aktuelles Album wurde auch von Pink Floyd beeinflusst, sagt sie.

Lili Haydn über ihre Einflüße: Pink Floyd definitely, Radiohead, Neil Young…something organic, some of the trippyness of those bands. My last album had more electronic elements. I loved the trippyness of it but I wanted the songs to come from a more organic place.

Lili Haydn über Roger Waters: I hope in some way it will contextualize me in a way that I’m not just some ‘chick singer. To have Roger Waters call me and tell me he likes my record and that he wants me to be a part of his trip…that’s a huge honor and hugely exciting. I would like to be able to be understood as an artist and somebody who has concept. Somebody who is operating from the head and the heart but also from a visceral place also.
