Gitarristen unter sich: Lee Harris im Gespräch mit Tim Renwick

Lee Harris unterhielt sich vergangene Woche mit Tim Renwick, der einer seiner Lieblingsmusiker ist. Zwei Top-Gitarristen quasi beim Fachsimpeln unter sich. Normalerweise würde man daran nicht teilhaben doch Harris teilte auf seiner Facebook-Seite das Video ihres Gesprächs. Hochinteressant die beiden Edel-Gitarristen bei ihrem Gespräch, das viele neue Informationen über Roger Waters, David Gilmour und Pink Floyd zutage förderte, zuzusehen.

PROS AND CONS

TIM RENWICK: The Pros and Cons, yeah it was very difficult working with Roger. He was quite difficult. It seems as if took out the fun of it. You had to play exactly the same. It had to be note for note the same even if you really had a good idea, I Heard you played something different — don’t do that.

LEE HARRIS: Is that because he wants that’s the Album how it should be.

TIM RENWICK: Yeah. It had to be Note for Note exactly the same. Obviously Eric was at the Gig, and he didn’t play the same …. He got away with it (laughs).

DAVID GILMOUR

LEE HARRIS: And David was a Musical Director of Pink Floyd’s Touring Band.

TIM RENWICK: Yes, he was very relaxed. He would never pick any … “don’t play that there“. He didn’t do that. Roger did that a lot. You just felt a little like … I don’t know … being under the gun all the time with Roger. He was very pressure … He would even say “this song reminds of my father just be careful how you mess with it” (laughs).

THE DIVISION BELL

LEE HARRIS: Did you see that Video on YouTube about all the different Solos you played?

TIM RENWICK: Yeah (laughs).

LEE HARRIS: That shows you how David is letting you do what you want.

TIM RENWICK: Yeah absolutely.

LEE HARRIS: What’s really interesting about it is the improvisation.

TIM RENWICK: When you only get three solo in a two and a half hour show you get so wound up. One is quite early in the show. Yeah, you got so much spend up energy.

Harris Vater war an den Filmarbeiten des High Hopes Videos beteiligt. Harris erinnerte sich daran, als er die Filmcrew im Jänner 1994 besuchte. Das neue Pink Floyd Album The Division Bell war zu der Zeit noch nicht veröffentlicht und Storm Thorgerson ließ Harris den Christmas Remix davon in seinem Auto anhören.
